Head of Social Sciences
Dr Andrew Thompson
Head of the Department of Social Sciences, Andy teaches on a number of courses in the department, including modules on nationalism and globalisation. His research interests are primarily in the field of ethnicity and nationalism, which provided the topics for his last three books.
Head of Division
Sarah’s teaching expertise lies in the areas of Sex, Sexuality and the Body. A Reader in Sociology, as well as Head of Division, she has co-authored Illicit and Illegal: Sex, Regulation and Social Control (2005, Willan Publishing) and is engaged in research on same-sex couple relationships in the wake of the Civil Partnership Act (2004).
